Taking care of yourselves during the Summer is so important. With the heat, harsh rays, and many events and activities, we are exposed to the outdoors more than usual! Days are longer which means we are out and about for more hours of the day. To give ourselves some TLC we stick to a regimen of eating well, exercising, and meditating.

Eating

Eating right is about customizing a meal plan that works for you. Having plenty of nutritious options in the house are the right start to making sure you are eating well. Try to prepare your meals ahead of time so you can grab and go the essentials. Have an abundant fruit bowl at all times to curb our sweet tooth. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Having balanced meals throughout the day will give you the most energy and prevent an afternoon crash. Always have small snacks to avoid fast-food and stops at convenience stores where the options are not always the best.

Your workout should reflect your lifestyle. Even if you don’t have time to attend a formal gym, make sure you stay stretched and active will aid in your overall energy. Making sure you are active can be as easy as parking further away at the store, so you get some extra steps in. Choose the stairs rather than the elevator. Especially as the weather becomes breezy and cooler at night, a brisk walk around the block will energize you!

We like to meditate for at least ten minutes a day. Early in the morning before any chaos can cloud our mind, we sit and take deep, long breaths. There are guided medication apps that can downloaded to your phone that can assist in telling you how to slow your pace of breathing and reach a deeper level of relaxation. Give it a try! You’ll be amazed how rewarding it can feel to take some time to simply be with yourself and clear your mind!
